PostSubject: Battle of the Bulge - OA - 12/12/10   Fri Nov 19, 2010 9:48 pm

The game will start with The Siege of Bastogne:

Mission Duration: 30 minutes

Point Value: 500 points

RED Start: The German side (RED) must start ON or BEYOND the circle marked on the Event Map (75 meter radius from Bastogne).

BLUE Start: The Allies side (BLUE) will start with approximately 20% of their troops in Bastogne. The remaining troops (Patton's relief force) must start between the towns of Liege and Huy. Please refer to the Event Map. The relief column may be delayed by weather!

Tank Start: The Red Armor will start at the town of Marvie. The Blue Armor will start at Blue HQ.

Mission Objective: The team who has control of Bastogne at the end of 30 minutes shall be awarded the mission points. To gain control of Bastogne , the Germans must respectfully lower the flag of the 101st Airborne in Bastogne. If Bastogne is taken, the Americans can "re-gain" control by raising the flag. The flag itself may NOT be removed from the area. The position of the flag at the 30 minute mark will determine the victor!!!

Safety: We are concerned for our players trying to exit Bastogne with over 200 players shooting at it. Because of this, a special exit procedure will be used. This will announced shortly.

Note: Armor and Anti-Armor assets may not be immediately available at "game on". Plan accordingly.

Ten or more additional missions will be run throughout the day, including:

Artillery bombardment
Downed paratrooper rescue (from hanging harness)
Demolition
Paratrooper insertion (Operation Stosser)
Armor battles and much, much more.

I will be attending this game, and have thrown my hat into the ring to be General of one of the sides (not sure which one at this point). Anyone who is interested, let me know!

Let us know if you hear anything. I wasn't planning on attending, but I might change my mind if you are General. Anybody else we know have a position this year?

Glad your taking the plunge for General! The Tier 1 Operators and the APN will be attending and look forward to meeting the Grave Diggers team. We have planned to join the Red side. If you can go red that would be awesome, if you can't please let us know asap so we can be sure to register on the same side as you.

I have not received a response from Lee even after numerous calls and emails, so we will have to see how it shakes out. I want to go, but in all honesty, without the free pass given to the general, I don't know if I can afford it! Either way, if our team goes' I will be there even if I can't play. It will be nice to finally make your acquaintance!

I have contacted OA in hopes of getting them to respond quicker. I let them know they had lots of players in lingo waiting on word who the generals were going to be so they can register with their loyalties.

It's official! I am the general of the red team. Register red, and let's bring the pain!

I have the shirts ordered but I wouldn't count on them being done. I'm hoping that they will but I'm not getting my hopes up. It would be a good idea for anybody that hasn't already done so to maybe order some name tapes. Depending on the weather the shirts may not be visible anyway but nametape will. We didn't get a big response on the first order so everyone will be in charge of ordering their own this time. You can go to 1800 Nametapes, they have good prices and a pretty quick turn around time.

Murdoc,

I am your XO and will start getting our players registered. I have color maps already printed out for us and laminated them so they will last the entire day. If there is anything you need me to do just give me a call, text, PM, or email me.

I received a message on the runboard forums of OA

"Coming off of Skirmish ION, West Point's fall game and Fulda Gap in NC- 1.SS Panzer Korps will be attending the OA Battle of the Bulge VII with at least 20 players.
We have anti-tank capability if needed and unit encrypted communications."

Be sure to confirm them. Tell Wes to call me if he has some plans already.

Members of the Kent Island Sea Monkeys will be on the American Blue team.

Also I don't remember if it was mentioned but Panzer Korps have antitank munitions.
